Project Objectives

At the heart of our project is the promotion of active citizenship through adult education, recognizing that active citizenship is not just about social, civic, or political participation, but also encompasses personal growth and the development of democratic values, cultural appreciation, and critical thinking. With a focus on lifelong learning, we aim to address the evolving landscape of civic engagement, particularly in the context of older learners who may be accustomed to traditional methods of participation.

Specific Objectives: Research and Analysis: Understand the political dimension of the work of adult and community educators in partner countries through comprehensive research. This will involve assessing the level, depth, and dimensions of their engagement in civic education. Capacity Building: Enhance the capacity of partner organizations to manage active citizenship initiatives by developing the competences of adult and senior voluntary coordinators and volunteers. This will involve targeted training and skill development programs. Innovative Methods: Explore and implement innovative educational methods attractive to adult and senior learners with fewer opportunities. These methods include Photovoice, Educational Animation (Video), Storytelling, and Kahoot! Quizzes. We will focus on contemporary issues such as Human Rights and Climate Change, Data protection and online privacy, Immigration and tolerance to difference, and Euroscepticism. Digital Literacy and Online Campaigning: Equip adult and community educators with the necessary skills and tools to understand and utilize social media effectively. This includes providing training on running successful online campaigns on issues relevant to learners and their communities.

Cross-cutting Objectives: Common Values and Civic Engagement: Promote common values, civic engagement, and participation among learners of all ages and backgrounds. Improving Educator Competences: Enhance the competences of educators and other adult education staff to better facilitate active citizenship education. Creating Learning Opportunities: Create and promote learning opportunities among all citizens and generations, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and civic participation.
